- Participates in overall product strategy, research and development requirements, and development, following the PLM process for new and emerging products;
- Coordinates product specifications, estimates of potential profits, and supports product launch activities with sales channels;
- Manages day-to-day progress of new product development projects;
- Provides technical support to customers and training to other departments in support of sales and customer service;
- Conducts marketing analysis to develop product definitions;
- Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities;
- Develops and maintains a prioritized list of customer and market requirements for product;
- Provides financial and technical justification for product selection and definition;
- Conducts market research and identifies and tracks market trends in company's industry;
- Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors;
- Identifies partnering opportunities for complementary third-party products to broaden company's product line;
- Participates in key sales situations for the product;
- Attends trade shows;
- Maintains communications and contacts to collect and analyze technical, financial, schedule, and sales information for product line; and
- Uses expertise in computer systems such as Microsoft Office, SAP, and Power BI for decision making.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Materials Science and Engineering or closely related technical field, such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Product Design Engineering.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in product development. Within this, must have at least 2 years of experience with OHAUS Lab Equipment and related products, in each of the following:
- Participating with overall product strategy, research and development requirements, and development along with launch of new products;
- Product lifecycle management;
- Developing marketing and technical product specifications for new product development;
- Foreign operation condition knowledge;
- Supply chain experience, including dealer/sub-dealer relations and global distribution network; and
- Utilizing MS Office, SAP Enterprise Central Component (ECC), and Power BI.
- Must travel 25% of the time (domestic and international) for meetings (internal, end-user discussions, and dealer visits).
