Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Quality manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, and championing Quality Assurance and Process Improvement efforts at Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection in Tampa Florida. This position requires an experienced Quality leader that is able to facilitate and drive change in a fast paced and “ever changing” environment. They must leverage their strong interpersonal skills to bring together a small team of internal Quality professionals as well as employees of different disciplines to achieve overall quality objectives. What you will be doing:
  • Strong support to Head of Quality for Strategic Development and Implementation of a proficient & robust Quality Management System across Product Inspection in PIUS
  • Is responsible for Quality Assurance and Process Improvement programs for all products/value streams and services originating from the Mettler-Toledo Product Inspection Tampa Florida operations
  • Working with the local Site Management/CI team/Production team and Engineering teams develops Quality Assurance and Process Improvement objectives ensuring that targets are measured and met.
  • Takes ownership, leads, and manages a program for the initial successful ISO-9000 certification of the local site operations including creation and maintenance of the ongoing Quality Management System required to maintain the certification over time. Be the primary liaison with the ISO-9000 accreditation agency ensuring that all records are kept, maintained, and properly stored in their appropriate areas.
  • Establishes and maintains the "Quality Dashboard" tracking pertinent product and process performance measurements against established targets and delivers periodic program presentations to key stakeholders within local Site Management and different value streams.
  • Leads the Quality Team in managing and conducting the final quality and safety inspections of all products from each value stream which is manufactured within the operations, ensuring that each undergo the applicable radiation safety tests and have appropriate electrical/mechanical risk assessments in accordance with applicable standards prior to shipment.
  • Effectively integrates quality tools across all departments, in all value streams, and in conjunction with other Mettler Toledo facilities, creating and maintaining efficient, effective, and dependable set of Quality processes which focuses on the elimination of failures, rework, and costs in all areas while improving customer satisfaction and financial performance.
  • Analyze the status quo and identify weaknesses and risks in processes, procedures, tools used and identify inconsistencies between the businesses in how processes and procedures are defined and executed.
  • Implementation of process quality audit according to quality statistical analysis result from QN, GQM, COPQ, warranty repair due to product failure, etc. to drive quality continuous improvement. Good data analytical and maintenance on those crucial quality indexes: COPQ, QNZX/ZI OTD, DPU, PFRW, etc. 
  • Ensures that departments are using structured problem-solving methods to resolve issues, examples of the tools include: 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone diagrams, 6 Sigma techniques, SPC techniques, 8D, A3 and COPQ techniques and others.
  • Provide leadership / mentoring / training to all levels of the organization on the use of Quality improvement tools.
  • Develop a culture that strongly values excellence in customer service and quality, and rewards and recognizes achievements in these areas.
  • Ability to analyze performs root cause analysis, and implements change to continuously improve the quality of products and processes.
  • Assure that effective SOPs, work instructions, work processes, tools and systems are developed, documented, and maintained in order to meet quality objectives.
  • Maintain and improve calibration program, nonconforming process, customer returns, internal audits
  • Strongly support and implement Sterndrive Quality Initiative to overall improve operation, market strategies.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing oriented disciplines with at least five years or more experience successfully leading Quality improvement efforts
  • Relevant experience with ISO-9000 standard and deployment of ISO-9000 systems.
  • Experience practitioner of Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, and COPQ measurement systems, a Green or Black Belt certification is desired.
  • Formal training and demonstrated use of Quality practices including statistical analysis, auditing, and process control. 
  • Knowledge of various quality system methodologies Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, 8-D, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc. preferred
  • Working understanding of process-flow and value stream mapping.
  • Works well in a team-oriented environment with strong consensus building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Strong people and change management skills.
  • Have demonstrated ability to initiate and lead significant change.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams with peer managers and others to achieve overall organizational goals.
  • Ability to provide technical information to vendors regarding quality failures and follow up to ensure improvements is achieved.
  • Have an absolute commitment to and passion for achieving Quality improvements in a made to order technical product focused environment.
  • Have a high energy level and drive required to lead critical functional areas within a dynamic business unit.
  • Have strong persuasive skills and the ability to exercise influence beyond direct authority.
  • Have a hands-on style and a willingness to perform a range of detail-level work, i.e. a doer rather than an administrator.
