Supply Chain Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose:
This position will work in cooperation with Value Engineering, Strategic Procurement, 
Global Commidity Management, and Manufacturing Engineering to deliver total cost of 
ownership optimization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The key role of the Supply Chain Engineer is to drive standardization and utilization of component catalogues while making BUY or MAKE decision at the forefront of the NPDI process.

  • Tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Work in close collaboration with Sourcing and Value Engineering to establish componet catalogues tailored for the needs of the PI value streams to optimize cost and ensure material availability
  • Coach and guide Engineering to make BUY or MAKE decision for new materials before they are submitted to the MDG process
  • Assist in the implementation of Mettler Toledo Product Inspection Design Standard guidelines
  • Ensure data is enriched by engineering according to the design standards
  • Drive material strategies together with sourcing organization and supplier base
  • Support Sourcing with logistic solutions for new materials,  follow performance and help manage deviations
  • Follow up and manage phase in and phase out of products
  • Ability to work on-site in Mettler-Toledo office facility. 
  • Execute assigned projects as defined

What You Need to Succeed


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills and attention to details, combined with a solid financial acumen
  • Strong change management, facilitation, and communication skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to drive improvement 
  • Critical thinking and results oriented with the demonstrated ability to apply strategic and decisive problem solving skills in ambiguous situations. 
  • Good task and project management skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment using consensus building to achieve a desired result, has excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to be a leader in dealing with multinational corporations.
  • Proficient SAP and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret drawings to enable Make or Buy decisions are desired

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field. Mettler-Toledo will consider equivalent combination of education and experience.   
  • 3-5 years of experience in tactical or strategic procurement, engineering, operations, supply chain management or production planning
