Industrial Field Service Technician - Mississauga

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Troubleshoots and repairs industry related products without assistance as skills and training permit. Performs calibrations and preventative maintenance duties as scheduled. Responsible for resolving first line customer service issues and accurate completion of documentation and related service reports. Leads efforts to modernize, upgrade and convert customer existing equipment. Responsible for operation of heavy duty test trucks as required. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed. 
  • Troubleshoots and repairs all Mettler Toledo products within the standard and heavy industrial business group; 
  • Performs system and equipment installations, calibrations and preventative maintenance duties as required; 
  • Ensures customer uptime requirements are met and that PM work at assigned accounts are completed on time; 
  • Completes system configuration and testing prior to delivery; 
  • Reviews and signs off on completed projects; 
  • Provides technical solutions consultant and application support to the customer and the sales force, to include technical review of sales orders; 
  • Interfaces with Mettler Toledo sales employees to meet customer requirements, including performing joint sales calls; 
  • Complies with ISO & Measurement Canada standards when required by the customer; 
  • Assists and cooperates with Service Support Representatives when ever necessary. Insures productivity standards are met and includes assurance of data integrity of the service database. Assist -scheduling efforts with SSR to maximize efficiency and income potential; 
  • Coordinates business information to customers, sales engineers and associates, lead the efforts in promoting and selling service income-producing products. 
  • Responsible for resolving first line customer complaints and invoicing problems. • Follows prescribed procedures for purchases including the local purchasing of parts; 
  • Responsible for or assists with project management activities; 
  • Assists in effort to modernize, upgrade and convert customer existing equipment. • Maintains productivity levels as determined by Area Service Leader / Regional Service Leader / Supervisor and in accordance with National standards; 
  • Weekly reporting of current projects; 
  • Completes record keeping on time; 
  • Works to insure an atmosphere of teamwork, and participates with a positive attitude toward obtaining team objectives; 
  • Insures vehicle service and maintenance requirements are met; 
  • Insures compliance with all company policies and procedures facilitates Environmental Health & Safety program; 
  • Submits all paperwork in a timely and professional manner, maintains a close professional relationship with external/internal customers, sales, technicians and other leaders; 
  • Overnight travel is required to maximize efficiency while performing regular duties; 
  • Must be available to work flexible hours and provide on-call standby on a rotational basis. 
  • Duties to include up to 60% overnight travel 
  • Must be able to travel to the USA for training bi annually 
  • Will be required to become accredited as a Measurement Canada inspector. 
  • Must possess valid driver's license and provide an Ontario Ministry of Transport driver's abstract 
  • Must possess or be open to acquiring an Ontario "DZ" commercial driver's license

 EDUCATIONAL and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum 2 year college diploma in Engineering/Electronics/Instrumentation Technology and/or Computer Science College/University degree. Experience in a technical support role, technical troubleshooting or technical installation in the industrial electronics technology market place. Advanced computer skills and experience required.
