Key Account Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As our Key Account Manager, you will focus on leading and developing key retail (i.e., grocery) accounts through strategic long-term relationship building. This position involves working closely with our Sales Manager, Retail to help implement sales strategies for new and existing key accounts. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Leading all sales functions for our retail product lines to meet revenue objectives - both in-person and through virtual technology.
  • Developing a list of target account opportunities.
  • Preparing and leading account strategies for new and existing accounts.
  • Solving key customer business issues and creating strategic execution plans to meet their goals.
  • Securing contracts from targeted customers, negotiating terms for the sale. 
  • Listening to client accounts to provide insight and input to product marketing and its roadmaps for future development.
  • Analyzing financials for better product value comparisons. 
  • Participating in trade shows, public relations campaigns, and direct mail. 
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Product Managers, National Sales Managers, National Service Managers, and other area leaders. 
  • The ability to travel overnight around 20% of the time, more once experiences in the role.

What You Need to Succeed

To succeed in this role you will need to be an individual with strong prior sales and relationship building experience, particularly in large client accounts. In addition, we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with a minimum of 5-10 years of sales and/or marketing experience; MBA is preferred.
  • Strong business financial analysis skills; understands financial concepts. 
  • Experience in selling complex technology solutions, services, or outsourcing, preferably within the supermarket and grocery store industry or similar.
  • Experience with a long, complex sales cycles requiring buy-in from multiple departments within a target account. Patience and perseverance is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create presentations and effectively deliver them to groups and individuals of all levels.
