 Mettler Toledo Process Analytics (MTPRO-US) is a leading supplier to end-users and system integrators for liquid analytical measurement solutions to control production processes. Mettler Toledo Thornton, a Strategic Business Unit within MTPRO-US, is a leading supplier for on-line liquid process measurement solutions for pure and ultrapure water applications.  Thornton's innovative analytical measurement solutions provide monitoring and control capabilities to customers in the Pharmaceutical, Microelectronics, and Power generation industries.

Due to COVID-19 risks we are seeking a student who is taking classes remotely off-campus. The position will be on-site in our Billerica, MA facility with strict safety protocols in place.

This is a Part-time, entry level/intern position with a flexible schedule during core business hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm.

The intern/co-op will assist the Thornton Product Marketing team, including applications specialists, product managers, chemists and engineers, in testing and debugging new products.  You will performs quality, functional and applications testing on products and services related to high purity and ultrapure water used in applications for the microelectronics, pharmaceutical and power generation industries. Executes chemical product/sensor testing and calibration using pure waters and liquid standards.  May produce solutions/chemicals for testing.   Maintains basic chemistry laboratory equipment. 

Work tasks/responsibilities include:

  • Personally performs applications and product testing under the direction of key staff members.
  • Supports applications specialists, product managers, chemists and engineers testing new technologies, product applications, or new products.
  • Investigates/troubleshoots problems related to products and applications.
  • Performs calibrations of standard sensors and analyzer products.
  • Tests/debugs prototypes of new product designs, verifying specifications.
  • Performs and documents quality tests on chemical/water products.
  • Writes applications notes and contributes to product manuals.
  • Prepares chemical solutions for testing and/or calibration.

What You Need to Succeed

We seek the following qualifications:
  • Pursuing an A.S. or B.S. Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent experience required.  Alternative disciplines considered.
  • Experience in Good Lab Practices (GLPs), electrochemical sensors, or water chemistry desired.
  • Able to work well in a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communications and writing skills.
  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office tools.
