Global Product Manager: Liquid Analytics

METTLER TOLEDO Process Analytics (MTPRO) is a leading supplier to end-users and system integrators for liquid and gas analytical measurement solutions to control production processes. METTLER TOLEDO Thornton, a Strategic Business Unit within MTPRO, is the leader in pure and ultrapure industrial water monitoring instrumentation used in semiconductor, microelectronics, power generation, pharmaceutical, and biotech applications. Our core competence is the in-line measurement of conductivity, resistivity, TOC, dissolved oxygen, dissolved ozone and related parameters in determining and controlling water purity.

We are seeking a traditional Product Manager, with the desire and aptitude to be a hands-on champion for assigned Thornton brand liquid measurement products to expand company presence and process analytics product growth, worldwide.
Expected global travel up to 30%.

You will manage from "concept to grave" the global analytical product and instrumentation portfolio lifecycle; including product identification, support materials, promotion, maintenance and obsolescence. The ideal candidate will be a principal marketing participant with local and global R&D teams in all phases of new product development including concurrent engineering of approved projects (preparation of product development specs, project status meetings and scheduling). Develop and implement marketing plans for product introduction, technical sales training and tradeshow support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare new product development specifications for process analytics liquid measurement products, including market requirement description, sales forecasts, pricing and other information to aid evaluation for Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Develop and maintain a high knowledge level of the technologies, products and applications in the company's current and potential business areas.
  • Communicate this information to facilitate sales growth activities. Monitor customer satisfaction and ensure that Thornton's products, services and information are meeting the market's needs and take corrective action to address deficiencies.
  • Prepare application notes, technical bulletins, newsletter articles, competitive analyses and other information that will facilitate the selling effort. Prepare technical documentation as required.
  • Collect market intelligence on customer needs, sales potential, market and technology trends, economic and regulatory climate, competitive activities and other data that may impact our business.
  • Support global sales by responding to inquiries for technical product and applications information as the principal back up to the Applications Engineers when they are unavailable. Conduct product and technical training for global Mettler-Toledo market (sales) organizations, sales reps, internal personnel and customers.

What You Need to Succeed

Traits for Success:
  • Global acumen and desire for global travel. Multi-lingual skills a plus.
  • Skilled in writing white papers, data sheets and speaking in public to a technical audience.
  • Extrovert by nature; driven and passionate about product's success.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Life Sciences (Chemical Engineering, Chemistry); or Marketing or Business degree with strong technical acumen.
  • 5-7 years' experience with Product Management, ideally with chemical sensors and/or instrumentation in the Pharmaceutical, Microelectronics, or Power generation industries.
  • Able to take ownership and present ideas in new product development, applications and product performance issues to various teams, departments and levels of management.
