Sub-Assembly Team Leader

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

This is a 'Hands On' role responsible for directing the Sub-Assembly team to achieve the scheduled production targets and to lead the improvement projects cascaded from the site annual objectives (or ad-hoc) as approved by the Production Manager to whom this role reports. If you have leadership skills and a motivation for Electronics, Generator & Production Sub-Assembly activities, in this role you will be able to drive positive Team culture with a 'Can Do' attitude and make a difference in our results.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage the team by e.g. using skills matrix, delivering the Health, Safety & Environmental training or team holidays, etc.
  • Manage the day to day production schedule for Electronics, Generator & Production Sub-Assembly Cells, to ensure overtime is minimised.
  • Manage the completion of company stock takes in the Sub-Assembly work areas.
  • Effectively use the SQDC communication boards to manage department KPI's and objectives.
  • Drive improvement projects and Lean manufacturing activities and initiatives and act as catalyst to engage the team in development of improvement ideas.
  • Drive standardisation of SOP’s and ensure gaps are defined and new instructions / practises are controlled and formally incorporated.
  • Drive resolution of issues, delays and shortages that adversely affect Team performance.
  • Manage all Sub-assembly Production Orders (PO's) to ensure assembly to defined procedures, specifications and drawings is achieved.
  • Manage scheduled maintenance and safe operation of all tools used within the designated area.
  • Manage control, registration and monitoring of COSHH material used within department.
  • Support the company ISO objectives and manage the team's engagement and compliance with defined policies, procedures and specifications (including Technical, HR, Quality and Health & Safety policies) in order to maintain a safe and controlled environment.
  • Support of colleagues within Operations and deputise where necessary.
  • Liaise as necessary with other departments to ensure defined process specification is achieved.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience in leading a team.
  • Manufacturing / Engineering/ Electrical Assembly experience, gained within a manufacturing assembly environment.
  • IPC certification.
  • Experience in driving Lean manufacturing methodology.
  • Computer literate, problem solving and fault diagnosis mindset.
  • Self motivated and capable of working on own initiative.
  • Effective communicator at all levels.
  • SAP knowledge will be an asset.
  • Eligibility to work in UK.
