Essential Duties and Responsibilities
System Engineering:
• Define and document system level requirements, interfaces, and performance specifications for Rainin’s automated liquid handling platforms.
• Guide and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers and software developers, to integrate liquid handling platform sub-systems effectively.
• Author and maintain comprehensive system level technical documentation, including requirements specifications, design descriptions, risk analyses and 2D/3D CAD files throughout the product lifecycle.
• Work with Rainin’s Project Management team to develop and manage project timelines and milestones from concept to completion.
• Oversee external product development resources and manage semi-automated liquid handling projects that are developed externally.
Electrical Design and Development:
• Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and components for complex electromechanical liquid handling products.
• Create detailed electrical schematics, diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Perform calculations and use design software to ensure the system meets performance requirements and safety standards.
• Ensure all designs and systems comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards.
Analysis and Testing:
• Plan and direct the execution of system-level verification and validation (V&V) activities, including functional, performance, and reliability testing.
• Conduct detailed analysis and testing of new electrical designs to identify and resolve issues.
• Analyze data from tests to summarize results and write technical reports.
• Technical support and improvement
• Provide technical support and guidance to other engineering teams including supporting design transfer to manufacturing and providing technical guidance through production ramp-up.
• Work to improve the efficiency, performance, and reliability of existing systems.
• Stay current with advancements in electromechanical engineering and related technologies.
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or systems engineering is required.
• A master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in product development creating complex automated and semi-automated laboratory instrumentation.
• At least 3 years of experience in a systems engineering or systems architecture involving complex semi-automated laboratory automation.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to details.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools a plus.
• Familiarity with UI design principles.
• Experience with SAP preferred.
