Planning Manager

This role is responsible for leading and optimizing all production planning and demand planning activities for Rainin‑manufactured products. The Planning Manager oversees a team of production planners, master schedulers, and supply chain analysts, ensuring effective execution of daily planning operations. The position partners closely with cross‑functional teams throughout the production organization to deliver the products needed to meet customer demand efficiently, reliably, and cost‑effectively. As a key member of the Supply Chain Management team, this role also collaborates with procurement, warehouse, and logistics functions to drive end‑to‑end supply chain control, performance, and continuous improvement. The responsibilities are as follows:
  • Responsible for the overall management, coordination, and evaluation of Production planners, Master Schedulers, and Supply Chain Analysts.
  • Enforces established personnel policies.
  • Fosters good employee relations and the professional development of team members to ensure a highly effective team.  
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships within assigned teams and with all departments.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the production planning, forecasting, and demand planning.  
  • Responsible for analyzing and setting correct inventory levels to meet customer demand requirements while also controlling inventory costs.  
  • Guides team members to execute the activities of planning on schedule and with the highest quality to meeting customer requirements.  
  • Aligns global planning requirements with key stakeholders from sales partners and logistics hubs to ensure correct inventory supply in support of global demand. 
  • Leads efforts to maintain the quality of the company business system to ensure successful daily planning and to continuously improve planning accuracy.
  • Evaluates demand requirements and production capabilities to identify capacity problems.
  • Provides daily updates on key planning performance indicators and reports on critical risks and disruptions to the production environment.  
  • Leads Sales and Operations Planning activities with key stakeholders to interpret demand requirements and their impact to production scheduling.  
  • Contributes and Leads Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to improve the organizations productivity and cost control efforts.  
  • Leads team to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions to eliminate problems.   
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving internal and external issues in a professional

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field –  Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Business Administration
  • 4-6 years of related experience with production and/or demand planning.
  • Experience in a supervisor role preferred.
  • Experience using SAP Materials Management module strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Lean principals preferred.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills able to work with diverse group of colleagues.  
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software products especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Prior database experience, ability to run ad hoc reports and analysis.
  • Knowledge of all types of machining and fabrication techniques.  
  • Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to read and write business correspondence.  
  • Ability to effectively present information to employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
