Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Role/Purpose:
The Mechanical Engineer Automation is responsible for investigation, design, implementation, and support of custom automation solutions for a high mix low volume production environment. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design automation solutions to support the progression and adaptation for Smart Manufacturing and industry 4.0 across Engineering and Manufacturing.  
  • Research, investigate, and suggest new technologies for implementation to improve business and manufacturing process efficiency.
  • Formulate and present business case to senior management for project buy in and approval, including capital expenditure, projected savings, and ROI.
  • Empower and engage with affected personnel to increase their capabilities, knowledge, and skillsets for each automation project.  
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives, including collaborative, industrial, and autonomous mobile robotics.  (Fanuc experience is a plus)
  • Ability to understand and generate basic programing logic, including loops, if statements, and registers.
  • Knowledge and experience in heavy manufacturing (fabrication, welding, and machining), electrical panel build, enclosure build, assembly, material handling and warehousing.   
  • Highly process oriented, with the ability to create and analyze process workflows to highlight opportunities for process automation.  
  • Understanding of ERP & CAD data structures and how their alignment can aid or hinder production.  (SAP & Team Center experience is a plus)
  • Ability to reach out to and work with suppliers to research and suggest new technologies for investigation.  
  • High level of motivation and drive is required.  
  • Strong organization skills, with a high attention to detail.  
  • Fluent computer skills in Microsoft Office based programs.

Minimum Education / Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.

Travel Requirements:  
This position has a travel requirement of less than 20%.  Travel could include both domestic and international travel (by commercial or personal means, including economy class air travel).  The ability to obtain a passport with valid visas for entry into countries throughout the world is required.
