Summer 2026 Intern - Mechanical Engineering (Rainin)

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern on the Mechatronics team, you will work alongside experienced engineers to design, develop, and test mechanical and electromechanical components and systems for our pipettes. You will assist with prototyping, testing, and documentation of new product concepts and improvements to existing products. You will work with cross-functional teams, including Electrical and Software Engineering, Quality Control, and Manufacturing, to ensure that products are designed and tested to meet functional requirements, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

The responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the design, development, and testing of mechanical and electromechanical components and systems for pipettes
  • Collaborate with Electrical and Software Engineering teams to integrate mechanical and electrical components into functional systems
  • Perform feasibility studies, prototyping, testing, and documentation of new product concepts and improvements to existing products
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of product design and testing documentation, including product specifications, test plans, and test reports
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of materials, components, and suppliers for use in product development

What You Need to Succeed

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 - May 2028
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, engineering principles, and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems and their integration with software and electrical components
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Previous experience with mechatronics and/or pipette design is a plus
