Material Handler

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Floor Scale team requires a safe working, detail-oriented material handler that can carry out most of the material handling for the value stream.  They will be responsible for ensuring the production team has all the materials, tools, and resources to complete their jobs. What you will do:
  • Understand and navigate the building using our storage location system
  • Effectively Receive inbound goods with high quality and attention to detail by entering Goods Receipt transactions within SAP
  • Work with Tactical / Strategic Buyers to coordinate and receive critical deliveries.
  • Unloading of Supplier trucks / vans via forklift
  • Work with Tactical Buyers on all Supplier receiving issues and provide Supplier performance feedback
  • Scan and Archive all Pack Slips on a daily basis into SAP
  • Deliver and handle materials as needed in production
  • Supply Component parts to Weigh Modules as needed
  • Replenish stocks lineside throughout the floor 1st thing every morning
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods to individual work centers as needed
  • Replenish materials via kanban, re-order point, or other means of notification
  • Document disturbances 
  • Work with the Inventory Manager to ensure our inventory aligns with SAP by submitting material shortages and outages
  • Ensure that the receiving area is clean and in orderly condition at the end of each shift.
  • Safely operate fork trucks and cranes
  • Ability to cross-train and assist other departments  
  • Drive box truck to pickup orders from other MT facilities as needed
  • Actively participate in facility 5S and Lean initiatives
  • Perform daily activities safely in regards to own self as well as others and in wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Assist in identifying improvement opportunities.

What You Need to Succeed

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Prior fork-lift / walk-behind fork-lift, crane certification preferred
  • Valid drivers license is required
  • Ability to effectively manage ones time
  • Ability to work well and along side other associates
  • Ability to safely operate jib and overhead cranes
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift
  • Ability to safely operate a box truck
  • Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques
  • Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to inspect own work and the work of others
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on details
  • Ability to work overtime when required (sometimes on weekends)
  • Ability to work from order schedules
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to follow through in completing assignments
  • Ability to work overtime when required (some on weekends)
