Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

 

Summary Mettler Toledo Thornton, a leader in analytical instrumentation and process analytics equipment, is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Shipper. As a Shipper, you will be responsible for ensuring all products are shipped to customers in a timely and accurate manner focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. Shippers will be responsible for the overall picking, packing, and shipping all products daily from Mettler Toledo Thornton and MTPRO-US to meet customer delivery dates using SAP. Ship both domestic and international using K&N, UPS, DHL, FedEx, Airborne and others directly to customers and to our Hubs in Columbus, OH and the Netherlands. This will also include hazardous materials and products and requires Hazmat Certification (Air – IATA, Ground – DOT)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Comply with all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Prepare shipments for domestic and international orders, including packing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Process deliveries created in SAP in a timely manner to meet customer delivery dates. This includes running SAP shipment monitor to ensure all items that can ship have a delivery created, are picked, packed and PGI'd by shipping route cutoff times each day.
  • Picking all items on deliveries from a pick list in preparation for shipment processing by end of day or as needed.
  • Check order selection accuracy prior to shipping.
  • Provide correct paperwork for international shipments (bills of lading, license to import, commercial invoices).
  • When necessary, work with carriers and/or team to provide corrected and updated documentation in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all current DOT/IATA regulations and process any hazardous material shipments as needed.
  • Coordinate pickups and shipments with outside carriers.
  • Run End of Day reports to ensure all deliveries and shipments have been properly processed and posted (PGI – Post Goods Issued)
  • Run prior day reports in preparation for morning meetings and report out (Safety Quality Delivery Cost Board)
  • Ship Customer Service repairs and returns.
  • Verify product and quantity moving into Finished Goods.
  • Assist and support the Senior Shipper with organizing and maintaining stock control of packing materials and Finished Goods.
  • Keep shipping area clean and organized. Maintain 5S in shipping area, warehouse, and shipping dock.
  • Support the timely execution of offline shipments placed on the outbound rack, ensuring they are processed by the requested date.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

Education, Experience & Skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • SAP Proficiency strongly preferred
  • Hazmat Certification Required
  • Three to Five years’ experience with shipping systems and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy required, including data entry.
  • Understanding of shipping and stockroom operation.
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Self-motivated to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Familiar with LEAN and LEAN concepts
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
