Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

In our AutoChem business unit, we develop synthesis, sampling and reaction analysis tools for scientists in pharmaceutical and chemical industries. We provide scientists the information they need to deliver life-changing products. Join our team as the Team Leader Software R&D AutoChem 100% (all genders) in the AutoChem Zurich site (Nänikon-Greifensee) and support the fast-growing business opportunity within our unit. 

In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks: 
  • You are leading a team of 6 - 8 Software Engineers
  • You are responsible for delivering software development projects on schedule while ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to budget constraints, all aligned with established portfolio priorities
  • You provide effective leadership that promotes teamwork and facilitates communication across geographical and functional boundaries, fostering collaboration and enhancing overall team performance
  • You collaborate with product marketing, hardware engineering, project management, quality assurance, and business development teams to define software requirements and develop strategic software project roadmaps for AutoChem product solutions
  • You optimize the application of technology and engineering resources to effectively meet user requirements for software products
  • You cultivate a culture of continuous learning and improvement by promoting best practices, conducting code reviews, and facilitating knowledge sharing
  • You recruit and develop team members to fulfil skillset and capacity needs effectively
  • You stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team
  • You ensure the development and implementation of processes and tools that support effective software development, guaranteeing that products are comprehensively defined, documented, and tested
  • You oversee the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) within the team, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and customer approval requirements
  • You engage in hands-on project management as necessary to achieve delivery goals.

What You Need to Succeed

Following requirements are necessary for this role: 
  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • You gained a minimum of 7 years of relevant software development experience, including engineering and project management, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • You have several years of supervisory experience (direct line management or leading a matrix team)
  • You have experience and understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, as well as financial, sales, and marketing aspects related to software design and development
  • You are experienced in software testing, both automated and manual
  • You have expertise in requirement engineering and GUI design as related to software design and development
  • You possess a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle management framework and supporting tools
  • You demonstrate strong operational and project management skills
  • You have proven team building and leadership skills
  • You exhibit excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • You have a proven ability to manage people and teams across various production functions and multiple technology platforms
  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, German language skills are a plus
