Applications Engineer - Automation & Digital Integration

We are seeking a detail-oriented Applications Engineer to lead our efforts in automation and digital integration across our process analytics and transmitter portfolios. This role is key to driving the successful adoption of our digital solutions in smart manufacturing environments by supporting integration support systems (e.g., DCA, SCADA, MES), enabling seamless communication via digital protocols (e.g., HART, Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, Modbus), and championing automation-forward applications in biopharma industrial settings. You will also ensure customer success by addressing technical inquiries, troubleshooting issues, providing application-specific solutions, and delivering engaging trainings and product demonstrations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Serving as the subject matter expert on digital communication protocols and automation system integration to support seamless integration of transmitters and sensors into PLC/DCS/MES environments. 
  • Developing deep application and product knowledge to recommend optimal configurations and champion use cases like predictive maintenance and automated alerts for scalable, compliant automation. 
  • Enabling technical sales by creating compelling content, delivering tailored demos, and acting as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and customer automation stakeholders. 
  • Providing field support and troubleshooting for remote and onsite system configurations, addressing integration or firmware challenges and collaborating with Quality and R&D for escalations. 
  • Leading customer and internal trainings, develop reusable training assets, and host technical webinars to enhance knowledge on digital setup, commissioning, and automation workflows. 
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with R&D and product management to influence product roadmaps, share field insights on digital adoption trends, and help shape automation narratives for marketing and product launches.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, automation engineering, computer science, chemical engineering, or related field is strongly preferred. 
  • 3-7 years in a customer-facing automation, applications, or product support role with a strong automation focus. 
  • Experience designing or implementing system level integrations. 
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment, such as biotech, pharma, or chemical. 
  • Hand-on experience with control systems. 
  • Familiarity with key automation protocols, such as HART, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC-US, and SCADA/DCA. 
  • Knowledge of industrial platforms and tools, such as Rockwell FactoryTalk, Siemens TIA Portal, DeltaV, or Honeywell Experion.
