Mechanical Engineer

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the design and development of injection molded and machined mechanical components and assemblies for pipettes and other precision liquid handling instruments

Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities.

Collaborate with electrical and firmware engineers to develop electromechanical systems.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, manufacturing, and quality to ensure product designs meet functional and quality standards.

Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving efforts.

Help maintain documentation including CAD models, drawings, and specifications.

Assist in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and manufacturability.

Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to mechanical engineering and laboratory instruments.

What You Need to Succeed

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

1-5 years of experience in mechanical design or product development (internships and co-ops may be considered).

Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.). Autodesk Inventor preferred

Basic knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)

Working knowledge of motors and/or electronic actuators

Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.


Preferred Experience:

Knowledge and/or experience designing injection molded parts

Experience designing electro-mechanical systems (including housing for PCBAs, sensors, wiring, etc.)

Experience with 3D printing prototyping techniques

Basic programming skills in C, Python, Labview, or C++

Experience with precision instruments or laboratory equipment.

Familiarity with FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
