Category Manager - Designed Parts

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Category Manager will manage regional procurement categories related to mechanical items, drawing parts and sub-assemblies to deliver innovation, and total cost of ownership optimization. They would drive standardization and utilization of preferred suppliers optimizing the US regional supplier base. 

 Your responsibilities would include: 
  • Category strategy development and implementation for mechanical designed parts in close collaboration with Mettler-Toledo unit team functions (R&D, project managers, product managers, unit procurement, sales and service) 
  • Conduct supplier evaluation and selection, strategic supplier management such as supplier audits, quarterly business reviews and negotiations 
  • Conduct procurement opportunity analysis for designated category for the US plants including but not limited to spend analysis, cost analysis, defining opportunities for low cost country sourcing, standardization and value engineering 
  • Optimize the number of suppliers used for a category 
  • Assist in the implementation of Mettler Toledo Design Standard guidelines 
  • Coordinate multi-unit, cross-functional global projects and support both regional and global implementations 
  • Single-point of contact for dedicated US business unit as NPDI coordinator within global procurement 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or procurement/supply chain. Master's degree or MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in strategic procurement or category management in a global or multiple US site production environment. 
  • Successful track record of project management, cost reduction, and supplier performance improvement 
  • Experience in e-Sourcing, Spend Analytics and Contract Management tools 
  • Experience in working within a global, cross-functional and multicultural environment 
  • Professional certification (i.e. ISM or ASCM) preferred 
  • Proficient user of MS Office, SAP and IT tools savvy in general 
  • Open-minded and engaged personality 
  • Solid financial acumen and strong analytical skills 
  • Ability to communicate ideas and execute them through without having the authority to give directives 
  • Ability to effectively present information and react to questions and requests from all levels of an organization
