Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Our Software Team is looking for a dynamic, self-starter to fill a Chief Data Scientist role.  This position will be responsible for developing advanced data analytics and computational techniques, with focus within the current and future AutoChem target markets, on predictive modeling and machine learning, etc. for simplifying, enabling  and automating data analysis tasks supporting conversion of our Data to Answers (D2A) initiatives. Working with other product owners, software marketing and R&D leaders, this position helps drive the D2A projects consistent with the overall software product roadmap.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Leading the identification of opportunities to apply and develop advanced analytics and data science solutions, including but not limited to predictive analytics, machine learning, and cognitive computing solutions 
  • Ensuring any algorithms or solutions developed can be seamlessly integrated into the new and existing AutoChem software products so that the overall solution brings value to customers. Algorithm code should follow similar coding standard and quality process as the production source code, i.e., is readable, maintainable and extendable.
  • Assist in developing and coordinating the D2A Software Product Portfolio, including strategic planning, roadmap development, project evaluation, prioritization, and project oversight. Ensuring that these initiatives translate into new deliverable software tools that help propel the adoption and sales of AutoChem instrumentation.
  • Leveraging new technological advances and industry trends and make recommendations on new research opportunities or technological ventures  
  • Serving as a senior technical advisor on innovation and core product technology initiatives to ensure new software products and product enhancements are leading the industry, especially in the area of knowledge management 
  • Providing thought leadership, help business growth within the market for advanced D2A software, and develop and maintain customer relationships.  Meet with external customers to discuss future D2A needs and assist in the development of product specifications.
  • Publishing scientific discoveries in scientific peer-reviewed journals.  Delivering quality technical presentations, advocate leading innovative concepts within industry and academic community.
  • Some travel, including international travel, may be required 

What You Need to Succeed

  • PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline with a strong knowledge in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Chemometrics or Computational Chemistry, preferred
  • Ten (10) years product development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong background in math, chemometrics, data science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, computational mathematics and statistical methodologies
  • Excellent Matlab/C/C++ skills or equivalent for algorithm development and rapid prototyping proof of concept
  • Demonstrated abilities in software development of commercially successful products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of optical instrumentation for process monitoring and control
  • Excellent communication skills, i.e., capable of communicating complex ideas efficiently
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 15%
  • SAP knowledge preferred
