Senior Automation Engineer

Summary:

The Vision Automation Engineer is responsible for managing the technical feasibility effort for custom Vision orders to ensure the system is successfully built and shipped without issues.  An emphasis shall be placed on driving solutions toward a set of standard modules and eliminating complexity. The Vision Automation Engineer will routinely consult with Engineering Management, Engineering, Production, Sales, Applications Lab, and POTA to deliver Vision Systems that satisfy the customer's requirements while using current PIUS technologies and capabilities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Works with Marketing and Production organizations to ensure that custom Vision systems can be designed and built using current technology and capabilities
  • Steers feature and option requests toward standard modules and designs
  • Manages projects for custom Vision systems from customer inquiry to crating
  • Contributes in a key role to the design of Vision systems and solutions using manufacturing procedures within Mettler Toledo’s guidelines
  • Travels occasionally (up to 25% annually) for customer site surveys
  • Act as a mentor to less experienced Engineers
  • Maintains highest achievable 5S ratings throughout all areas of responsibility
  • Always considers the company Green Initiative when planning activities, procuring supplies or disposing of materials or other assets

What You Need to Succeed

Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Requires a tactful and diplomatic personality
  • Strong Project management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities
  • Self starter (can work without supervision)
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Experience dealing with all types of people
  • Experience in automated machinery design in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with conveyors or material handling equipment preferred
  • Vision product inspection experience highly desirable

Prerequisites (Education, Experience): 
  • Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering Degree preferred with a minimum of 5-7 years of previous experience or combination of education and experience.
  • CAD Skills (Autodesk Inventor & Eplan)
  • Microsoft Office proficient
