C# /.NET Software Engineer in Test

Our global Industrial division started a complete renewal of the terminal portfolio. Some of the actions taken are of great importance to strengthen the current core-business, but also to leverage a variety of future, digital opportunities. With increased integration of our solutions into IT and OT, system understanding, and architecture will gain further importance. This will pave the way to leverage the industrial internet of things, with the terminal as a key-component in edge computing. That is why we are looking for a motivated C# /.NET Software Engineer in Test 100% (f/m/d).
This role is based in our global operational Headquarters in Nänikon-Greifensee. 

The Terminal R&D efforts are performed by our global team in China and Germany. We will extend our team by strengthening our capabilities and building a new R&D Competence Center in Switzerland, facilitating an end-to-end development of our high-end terminals in central Europe. The new team will help us to extend our competencies by offering excellent opportunities to talents in the greater Zurich area. Any first-movers will have the chance to shape the team and deliver an important contribution to turn METTLER TOLEDO into a major player in digital solutions for our customers. 

In this role, your responsibilities would include:
  • As an experienced SW developer, you take part in all the phases (concept, design, implementation, unit testing and code reviews) of the development of the core components for a solution. You design the test cases; you orchestrate the test planning and you make sure that every part of the code is tested in a system context 
  • Expand our existing test automation framework and test coverage  
  • Work closely with developers to analyze architecture and implement detailed test coverage on service, integration system and UI level
  • Collaborate with requirement engineers and development team to understand features behavior and then define and contribute suitable automated test solutions 
  • Conduct design and code reviews of automated tests with team members
  • Work together with DevOps team to set up and maintain test automation in CI/CD pipeline
  • Participate in test pipeline maintenance rotation and ensure pipeline failures are prioritized properly
  • Analyze our software systems and collaborate with others to improve the overall design, testability, and quality
  • Advocate for best practices in testing, coding practices, testability, and quality. 
  • Ensure that test outcomes are easily accessible, transparent, timely and generated automatically
  • Work on test execution optimizations, fast feedback loops and test parallelization in distributed environments

What You Need to Succeed

Following requirements are necessary for this role: 
  • Degree in Computer Science (FH / BSc, MSc) or related technical/scientific discipline
  • Some years of relevant professional experience in software engineering and/or test automation
  • Professional programming skills in C#, .NET, WPF
  • Experiences in building test automation frameworks with focus on white box testing
  • Familiarity with best practices in UI test automation and tools like Selenium
  • Experiences with continuous integration systems and agile methodologies (preferably in Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity with advanced concepts of computer architecture, microservices (load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, networking), data structures and standard programming practices would be a plus
  • Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes would be a plus 
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) - German is a plus
