Field Sales Representative - Missouri

Summary
This position is responsible for the selling of PI products (checkweighers, metal detection systems, x-ray systems, vision inspection, and related software) and associated services in the packaging and production process markets. It requires the ability to effectively sell a comprehensive portfolio consisting of low- and high-end capital equipment with short- and long-term sales cycles, both directly to end customers and through other channels such as OEMs, System Integrators and Engineering firms. Ability to work with and through Contractors for project-oriented sales is essential as well.  A consultative value selling approach must be effectively applied in single and multi-level selling situations, from basic applications to high end integrated system solutions to provide brand protection as well as improve customers' productivity, throughput, and business profitability.

Heavy emphasis is placed on self-generating opportunities through account targeting, prospecting initiatives, and actions taken. Additionally, qualified leads will be provided for follow-up within the area of responsibility. Routine business plan development and review is fundamental in appropriately targeting high potential accounts within the territory. Effective execution of these plans is required to generate sales growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must possess the ability to develop account penetration plans, create opportunities through one's own actions, and aggressively pursue sales goals
  • Proactively engage assigned accounts offering a wide variety of solutions and services, utilizing company resources to prepare for sales activities and account engagement actions.
  • Develop, expand, and refresh relationships at assigned accounts through a network of MT employees, distribution partners, and other counterparts across your accounts. This includes partnering with company sales counterparts from other divisions to expand overall account knowledge.
  • Prepare and deliver sales presentations to potential and existing customers which demonstrate the value of our solutions. This includes presenting over a virtual platform and in person.
  • Understand our customer's needs and requirements to better support and react to an account's expanding requirements with appropriate solutions to add value to the customer’s business. 
  • Utilize SAP CRM for all lead, opportunity, quote, contact and activity management per defined processes 
  • Routinely update sales pipeline, enter CRM changes in a timely manner, and stay ahead of basic administrative requirements. 
  • Negotiate T&C's, effectively defend pricing, and limit discounting in order to meet companies financial goals
  • Work quickly and decisively to solve customer complains to retain business and improve the company's reputation.

What You Need to Succeed

Education, Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis on Engineering, Industry and Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent sales and industry experience 
  • 3-5 years of business-to-business sales experience with a proven track record in the industrial marketplace
  • Proficient in MS Office software, have solid organizational skills, and professional image
  • Significant experience with CRM systems in a sales process; SAP preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to senior groups and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellence in interpersonal/communication skills, professional maturity, and the ability to work with minimum supervision - a self-starter with strong organization, prioritization and time management skills
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously while staying within the corporate guidelines and processes
  • Experience with Industrial automation, process controls, or capital equipment is beneficial
  • Knowledge of PLC/control systems and sales experience with OEM's, System Integrators, Engineering houses and Contractors is beneficial
