Technical Documentation Manager

Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

The Technical Documentation Manager will oversee the development, management, harmonization, and enhancement of technical documentation. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, and establishing documentation standards and processes to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency. The ideal candidate is experienced with a strong background in technical writing and a passion for clear communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Documentation Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive documentation strategy that aligns with business objectives and product launches, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality documentation.
  • Harmonization, Standards & Best Practices: Establish and enforce documentation standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across all documentation.
  • Content Development: Oversee the creation, review, and ongoing maintenance of various types of technical documentation, including user manuals, installation-, quick- and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, product managers, service, engineers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to gather information, understand technical details, and ensure documentation meets user needs.
  • Project Management: Manage documentation projects by planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and quality checks of documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • User Feedback: Gather and analyze user feedback on documentation and implement improvements based on user needs and suggestions.
  • Technology & Tools: Evaluate and implement documentation tools and technologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Content Management: Oversee the maintenance and organization of the documentation repository, ensuring easy to access and up-to-date information.

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, (Marketing) Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a technical writer.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to convey them clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Confluence, Jira, or other content management systems.
  • Familiarity with markup languages such as HTML and XML.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience creating visual aids such as diagrams, screenshots, and flowcharts is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a team of technical writers.
